One of our favorite things about the roofing industry is how many companies and individuals incorporate giving back into their day-to-day activities. A great example of this is our February R-Club Roofer of the Month — Antis Roofing and Waterproofing! To learn more about this expert roofing company and how they have established a culture of community service, Alex Tolle sat down with CEO and Founder Charles Antis for an episode of Roofer of the Month.
Antis Roofing and Waterproofing primarily operates out of Southern California. While their incredible craftsmanship can be found all across LA, Orange County, San Diego and more, that’s not Charles’ favorite thing to talk about. He likes to highlight his teams' compassion and drive to keep people safe at the end of the day. Charles explained, “We can't let a family have a leaky roof just because they don't have the money to pay. And there are so many stories of this I guarantee you, there has been a foreman on a job that gets the call from the boss, saying, ‘There's no money here, get out.’ But before the crew leaves, at least one guy patches that roof so that family won't have mold in their home anymore. The thing that makes my team special is we celebrate that.”
That company culture has led Antis Roofing and Waterproofing to where they are today, with a partnership with Habitat from Humanity that has helped 99 families, over 154 blood drives and multiple Ronald McDonald House roofs. Just this year, their team was finding all the ways they could help in the aftermath of the LA fires. Charles shared, “One of our team members, Cori Vernam, was very active orchestrating bringing food to LA to help not only the firemen, the policemen, the National Guard and those who are the frontline heroes, but those families that were displaced or had lost their homes. My team delivered 4,000 meals to these families, and they're doing it with the group of Orange County chefs that just have to give back.”
This level of care can be found in everything that the Antis Roofing and Waterproofing team does. Charles explained, “We say something in Antis Roofing, we say this thing that every nail matters. The average roof that Antis installs on a homeowner association has 200,000 parts and many times when we go to look for a roof leak, we find a nail that was driven in too far through causing the leak. Every nail going in perfect matters.”
