During the holiday season when she needed it most, Elizabeth Henderson received a brand-new roof free of charge. The roof was gifted to her as a part of the Owens Corning Roof Deployment Project, which “aims to inspire, activate and match its network of independent Platinum Preferred Contractors with military families around the country to deliver and install a free, new roof.” Since being formed in 2016, the philanthropic project has helped install new roofs for 375 military members at no cost to them. During the chaos of the holiday season, it can be easy to lose focus on what the season is all about: giving. Owens Corning went above the call of duty to give back to this hero.
According to Fox 17 in Nashville, “Henderson was selected and approved as the recipient for the roof replacement through a partnership with Purple Heart Homes, a nonprofit veterans-focused charity.” Purple Heart Homes mission is to “improve veterans lives one home at a time.” The foundation believes that, “No Veteran should be left behind or forgotten. They make a difference by providing peace of mind and a higher quality of life to qualifying Veterans of all eras.”
The Purple Heart Homes organization and the Owens Corning Roof Deployment Project have been able to help veterans like Elizabeth by providing essential services, like a roof over their heads, for those who have served their country. Both organizations are dedicated to helping veterans and their families and are making a difference in the lives of those who have sacrificed for our nation.
