Answer is a nail gun. It has a tray the nails are lined up in and travel downward into a channel waiting for the driver that after being struck by a hammer, they are driven into what ever you place the tool on.

This tool is a slater ripper. The flat part slides under a broken slate and hooks the nails then with a hit with the hammer on the tool downward it removes the nails allowing the slate to be removed.
