Technology, as in every facet of life, has been and continues to be a game changer in the contracting industry. In this episode of the AskARoofer Podcast, Eric Neill and Joe Mischler from Neill and Son Roofing caught up with hosts Lauren White and Megan Ellsworth to explain why choosing a contractor who integrates technology is key. Joe explained that at this point in the industry “if a business is still stuck in the day and age of paper contracts and things like that, they’re missing out on opportunities to be more efficient.”
Eric, Joe and the team at Neill and Son already integrate technology in the behind the scenes of their business. They use it to make their processes smoother, such as getting accurate on-the-roof measurements with Roofr to the IKO ROOFPRO Worx site to help them manage their accounts, warranties and other paperwork. But technology is not just a benefit behind the scenes, it helps on the customer side as well! Eric explained, “One software, our CRM (customer relationship management) tool is the lifeline of the business.” This tool allows customers to see how the project travels from beginning to end. Joe elaborated, “When you have the physical cloud-based trail, it's not just a paper trail, that gives homeowners a little bit more confidence.”
Furthering the power of technology to create transparency is the improved estimating process that comes with tech integration. Eric explained, “Using technology we're able to actually show the customer where we get our numbers from, we can be more transparent with our pricing, and it allows us to gain more trust with our customer.” Overall, by choosing a contractor that uses technology like Neill and Son’s team does, customers become more a part of the process and can invest in their roofs confidently.
