Contractor Shares Inventory Stock to Ease Pressure of Material Shortages

IB Roof Material Shortages

Harvey Adams ships nearly half a million screws and plates to contractors in need of materials.

A year ago, people were flocking to the grocery stores to buy out all of the hand sanitizer they could find. Now, contractors are finding themselves doing much the same with plates and screws. The pent-up demand created by the COVID lock down, simmering for about a year now, has reached a boiling point. Prices are rocketing up and availability has dropped like a rock.

As the ongoing stimulus pumps up the economy, demand is increasing, but at the same time, manufacturers haven’t yet been able to ramp up production. Plus, COVID roadblocks continue to hamper transport of materials. Thus, material shortages, supply chain bottlenecks and cost increases have plagued an industry going into their busy season.

Contractors are scrambling to find materials to get the job done and navigate the ever-changing post-COVID market, but AA Rain-Tite Roofing’s Harvey Adams is not one of them. Harvey has been a customer of IB Roof Systems for 30 years, and has been building his inventory stock for many of those years.

Harvey is also a kind and generous man, who recognizes the strain price increases and material shortages place on his fellow roofers. He decided to step up to the plate and do his part to help his industry, and share his inventory stock with other IB contractors.

“It doesn't seem right to be sitting on all these screws and plates while other IB Contractors are trying to feed their family,” said Harvey, who has recently shipped nearly a half million screws and plates to other contractors. "Larry Stanley would have done the same for me, so this is my chance to pay it forward.”
