After an overwhelming amount of community support, the Lenihan’s dream home stands a chance due to Guardian Roofing and their Halo Project.

With a growing family, Luke and Sarah Lenihan decided to purchase their first house for their three children, Remi (6), Ryker (4) and their newborn son Reuben with the intentions of renovating the house into a dream home.

Luke and Sarah did just that, but not without the help of Guardian Roofing and their Halo Project.

Guardian Roofing, an Auburn, Washington-based roofing company has an annual project named the Halo Project in which they help a member of the local community in need with a major roof repair or replacement The Halo project began in 2019 when the first recipient, Cindy Lu Vaughn, received a new roof and the company has kept the tradition of giving back strong in the years since.

Once the nomination period for the 2021 Halo Project was opened in late 2020, nominations for the Lenihan family poured in at a record-breaking pace.

“In fact, the number of submissions for the Lenihan’s reached a new Guardian record — 105 submitted nominations! Almost every nomination had a kind word to say about Sarah, Luke and their children and after reviewing each and every submission, the leadership team at Guardian knew they had to help,” Guardian’s founder and president Lori Swanson said to the Courier Herald

Part of the reason why the Lenihan family received so many votes was due to the situation they encountered shortly after they purchased their new home.

Despite doing everything correctly, when the family began renovating their house into their dream home their plans came to a sudden halt. They discovered mold and rot in the attic, which was going to be transformed into a playroom for their children, and also along the roof, floor and around the windows. These issues were overlooked by the inspector, and many companies turned the job down due to the difficulty of the project, which sparked a fire within the community to come together to get help for the Lenihan family.

Then in October of 2021, the project was completed and the Lenihan’s vision for their dream home was saved by the Halo Project and Guardian Roofing, leaving Sarah Lenihan saying this to the Courier Herald, “We woke up the next day, and it still kind of [felt] like a dream. We’re super, super thankful.”
