The second half of the year is the time paint and other companies release their color trends for the following year.

It’s always exciting to see the new Color of the Year and be inspired by the latest color collections. While the trending colors tend to focus on interior shades, I always find options that are ideal for updating your home’s exterior too. From a bold accent color to freshly painted trim details, choosing from the latest color palettes will boost your home’s curb appeal with lasting style.

Despite being chosen by different paint manufacturers, the Colors of the Year for 2025 share common themes inspired by nature:

  • Warmth, earthiness and spring-like optimism are found in clay, ochre-yellow and green shades.
  • Light colors like yellow and mauve are tempered with blue-grays that evoke the deepest ocean.
  • Neutrals are leaving cool undertones behind, replacing the grays of recent years with warm white, cream and beige.
  • Lavender, plum and burgundy red provide cool, serene color with floral shades that tie into the theme of the natural world.

If you’re ready to learn more about choosing exterior colors, check out the latest edition of DaVinci Roofscape’s helpful e-book, Fresh Colors For Exteriors With Curb Appeal. Now, let’s take a look at the 2025 color collections – there’s plenty of opportunity for inspiration! We’ve chosen our favorite new shades to help you add the latest trends to the exterior of your home.

Sherwin-Williams

Sherwin-Williams has announced a Color Capsule Collection for 2025; it includes seven earthy shades and two bright, airy accents – chartreuse and mauve finery.

With colors drawn from the landscape, this collection offers consumers who are tired of the black, gray and white palette some fresh exterior color options. A deep gray blue like Rain Cloud has a grounding effect, helping this home blend with the hazy mountain views. A warm beige like Malabar on the trim highlights the home’s Craftsman details with a rich warmth.

Check out this in action on this DaVinci Roofing Select Shake in Chesapeake! This is using the Sherwin-Williams rain cloud and malabar colors.

BEHR

BEHR has announced its 2025 Color of the Year, and it’s a classic burgundy that’s been out of circulation for a few decades. BEHR describes Rumors MQ1-15 as “an engaging ruby red that makes a statement and captivates with its vivacity… a deep hue that brings drama and elegance both inside and outside your home.” We think this deep, cool red has fresh appeal when paired with warmer whites, deep blue-green or gold.

Benjamin Moore

Benjamin Moore’s 2025 Color Trends Collection includes forest-greens, warm neutrals and brick tones, accented by their Color of the Year, Cinnamon Slate. This cozy shade is described as a “delicate mix of heathered plum and velvety brown.”

Dark exterior trim colors have been trending for a few years now, with black and gray continuing to be popular. Benjamin Moore’s color palette offers some interesting options that will add warmth and individuality to your home. I think the leafy-green trim looks so fresh against the warm white walls on this cottage-style home.

PPG Paints

Paint manufacturer PPG has also chosen a plummy hue for its 2025 Color of the Year. According to their press release, Purple Basil “strikes a perfect balance between the calming qualities of blue and energetic warmth of red.” It’s another cozy jewel-tone that’s lively and a bit mysterious. It gives new life to the vintage front door in this photo.

Purple Basil provides a bold accent to PPG’s 2025 color palette, which is focused on warm hues in bronze, gold and brown. The collection is grounded by a deep slate blue called Mysterious. While the colors in this palette may seem a bit nostalgic, these updated versions are distinctively modern. If you’re not ready for a bold color on your home but want a change from gray and black, this PPG color palette offers warm, contemporary shades to work with.

Conclusion

The common theme across this year’s color collections seems to be a feeling of nostalgia and appreciation for nature. As consumers move towards investing in experiences rather than things, we enjoy being reminded of the value of making connections and memories. As fast fashion falls out of favor, we’re showing more respect for lasting quality. These warm and inviting color palettes have a timeless appeal, and remind us of how we value nature, permanence and individual character as we move into 2025.

Is one of these Colors of the Year the perfect exterior color for your home? That depends on how much of a leap you’re ready to make. Shades of purple and red may inspire you to go with bolder accents like a front door or shutters. Deep green or rich brown trim can make your home feel rustic and contemporary all at once. For a low-key update, simply freshen up your cool whites by replacing them with warm neutrals like off-white or greige. For 2025, you can expect colors that inspire you.

No matter what style your home is, you can find inspiration for seven different home styles in DaVinci’s updated e-book, Fresh Color Schemes For Your Home Exterior.
