On a recent episode of the AskARoofer Podcast, hosts Megan Ellsworth and Lauren White spoke with Kate Smith from DaVinci Roofscapes as she shared her insights on how homeowners can select the perfect hue for their home’s crown.
Kate, a color consultant with a background in design and product development, has been advising homeowners for over a decade helping them choose the right product for their home. She pointed out that roofs don't have to be the traditional black or gray. With options like DaVinci's composite tiles, available in 49 standard colors and blends, the sky's the limit. "DaVinci can even create custom colors to match anything from the roof of your favorite historic building to your color of your favorite sports team," she said.
Another important feature of DaVinci's products is their durability. Not only are they built to last over half a century, but they also maintain their color throughout, ensuring that a roof stays vibrant for years to come. “It has a very long life, 50 plus years, lasts a lifetime. It has color through and through. It's made well,” Kate said.
In a last word of advice, Kate encouraged homeowners to trust their instincts. "Always look at samples, look at it in the different light around your house, and take your time and trust your eyes and your gut," she said. Kate reassured that homeowners often have a good idea of what's right for their home and sometimes just need a nudge in the right direction. Hopefully, with the right guidance, choosing your roof color can be less daunting and more of an exciting venture into your home's aesthetics.
