Supporting their community by saving a roof

A local roofing company helps a community member in need. 

Over the summer, Susan Duncan was looking to replace the roof on both her home and her late mother’s. She found the name of a company she believed to be credible and did her best to check their background, doing as much research as she could. 

For weeks, she kept in contact with this company, and the representative kept giving her excuses for pushing back the start date for the project. Susan did her best to be understanding of these concerns and complications that would come up, but by October, they had still not made it out to work on the roof. Trying to understand what was happening, she went to their business location only to find an eviction notice on the door.  

Her heart dropped, Susan explained in an interview with KETK, “I felt bad about it, I was embarrassed about it, didn’t want anybody to know.” It was a hard moment for her, having paid thousands of dollars already and she still didn’t know what she would do about the roofs.  

Little did she know her luck was about to turn around. A local company heard her story and wanted to help her. Susan’s prayers were answered when Stonewater Roofing offered to replace her late mother’s roof free-of-charge. Jacob Law, the co-owner and chief operations officer of Stonewater explained that supporting their community is one of their company’s foundational values. He elaborated, “Our goal was just to help her out a little bit. Take some of the stress off of her and this huge ordeal that she’s been dealing with.”  

Susan and Jacob suggest that starting in your community is the best way to find a roofer, whether that is a company rooted in your area or someone who has a good record with people you know.
