I would frame one larger curb out of 2″x 6″ douglas fir 49.5″ x 25.5″ and set a twin manifold on the top edge of the curb to accept two solar tubes. Each hole was 10″ and had a .75 ” lip to connect and seal the top of the tubes. Using elbows to direct each tube to their every diffuser made this a set up a useful skylight system. One hole in the roof, one roof flashing kept the cost down.
The tube would perform well if I kept the length to less the 8-9 feet. Using the SunOptics prismatic skylights gives this system at the origin, better lighting, because of the prisms bending the light downwards into the tubes. As seen to the right the tubes are spliced and seal with high-performance duct tape, then held in place using metal straps. The highly reflective tubes carry the light downwards into the room or rooms wanted. One solar tube lights a 12′ x 12′ room very well in the daylight hours and surprisingly on a full moon illuminates the room also. This design is perfect for two solar tubes in one room or two skylights near each other like a hallway and a closet.
