Josh from Corona, CA asked:

I have numerous broken flat concrete tiles on my roof. The currently installed tiles are Monier and have had a hard time trying to locate replacements, and when I have been able to find them, they are very expensive. I am going to buy replacement tiles that are not a match. I know I need to replace an entire row with the different type, but where do I install them? As a top row? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Josh,

Below is what our roofing expert John Kenney from Cotney Consulting Group had to say in response to your question:

Josh,

The issue with installing another brand even in an entire row is that each manufacturer’s design is slightly different, leading to problems sealing from one brand to another design and size differences even if they are small. You may get lucky and find one that works, but I wanted you to be aware of the potential issues you may have after doing all that work replacing a row.

Here are two companies that specialize in discounted and absolute tile. Tile Roofs, Inc https://www.tileroofs.com/custom_manufactured_tile.php, and All Point Tile Sales https://allpointstile.com/, It would be worth reaching out to see if they can provide a solution for the tile you have.
