1-day garage installation? No way!

When Catalyst Health in Denver, Colorado, reached out to them for a traffic coating for their parking garage, they were seeking a quick turnaround and hoped to find a product that offered a longer warranty. 

Some urethane coatings can take up to a week to complete, causing costly downtime and customer frustrations. Tremco chose a Vulkem® EWS system with PUMA technology to help decrease project time and allow the owner to get back to using their garage with minimal interruption. Vulkem Extreme Wearing System (EWS) is a waterproof traffic deck coating composed of a primer, a base coat and a topcoat, all of which are cured using Tremco PUMA Initiator. PUMA stands for polyurethane-methacrylate technology, which is designed with extreme abrasion resistance and superior adhesion. 

PUMA technology can be applied in temperatures as low as 20° Fahrenheit, and each layer in the system cures within 30-45 minutes. Once complete, traffic can travel over it within an hour after installation. For the Catalyst Health Building, this meant they only lost one day to installation. Mike Bader, technical field rep for Tremco, explains, “We started this morning around 9 o’clock. It was cold this morning, 29 degrees, but the EWS doesn’t have a problem with that. So, we did 1,800 square feet just now, applying a coat in an hour, and in another hour, we’ll be able to start that second coat. 1,800 square feet will be wrapped up by five today.” 

With an industry-leading 10-year warranty, the system will protect the concrete from chloride, chemicals, gasoline, oils and several other damaging substances while giving the owner peace of mind that the areas underneath the parking structure will be free from water damage for years to come.
