Via Purple Heart Homes and Young Construction, an army veteran by the name of Brandon Schmidt has been selected by the Owens Corning Roof Deployment Project to receive a brand-new roof. The Roof Deployment Project is an operation that helps “identify and protect deserving military veterans by helping install new roofs for them.” The project is a collaboration effort of Owens Corning and other independent contractors that have donated their time and resources and together have helped provide new roofs for 375 military veterans. Purple Heart Homes is another company heavily invested in the project. The company has a wonderful mission as a representative from the company stated, “From building a ramp for a veteran of World War II, to providing home ownership opportunities to younger veterans, our programs are designed out of necessity and fit the specific needs of the veteran population.”
As for Brandon’s roof, the whole operation was completed swiftly and efficiently. According to Young Construction Marketing Manager Ava Shafer, the job started at 8:30 in the morning and only took three hours. In an interview with KCHA News, Ava added, “Our roofers got started early in the morning to ensure the house was completed before the Schmidt’s got home from work.” This was definitely a special job for the Young Construction crew as well, since there are several veterans on the team. Brandon was very appreciative of his new roof and posted on the Young Construction Facebook page, “Thank you all! We love it! Looks amazing and obviously super fast work! Thanks so much! We really appreciate it!”
