In an episode of the AskARoofer podcast, hosts Lauren White and Megan Ellsworth sat down with the Executive Director of the Metal Roofing Alliance (MRA), Renee Ramey, to discuss the organization’s role in the metal industry and how they are helping homeowners find reliable metal resources and contractors.
In an effort to drive awareness to the re-roofing process and educating homeowners about metal roofing, the MRA created the Residential Metal Roofing Buyer’s Guide to make that information more accessible to the public. Renee discussed the inspiration behind the guide, saying, “The Buyer's Guide was developed as kind of a one-stop guide or tool for a homeowner as they're going through that process. It's not just about, okay, you're getting a new roof. It's about when do you know you need a new roof? What things should you consider when you're looking for a new roof as far as where you live regionally or things of that nature, through what options of roofing are out there? So, what things should the installers be providing or doing? What questions should you ask? It's a very comprehensive guide for a homeowner going through that process.”
The guide, which is available to view on their website, allows homeowners to access the documents for free so that they can learn more about the roofing process and find the answers to any questions they may have. From basic level questions about the roofing project, to more detailed and regional specific questions based on where the homeowner’s property is located, are available as well. The guide covers every possible aspect of the roofing process that may have an impact on the desired results or solutions the homeowner may need.
Not only does the MRA have an extensive guide for homeowners, but their monthly newsletter also features educational resources and articles that can help homeowners learn more about metal roofing and any interest they may have in the industry. Homeowners can also access the MRA’s free Resiliency Guide and Sustainability Guide if they are interested in learning about green construction and roofing trends.
