Have you been dying to change the exterior of your home but don’t know where to begin? Sometimes the easiest way to get the ball rolling is by learning what the experts have to say. In a recent episode of the AskARoofer Podcast, we spoke with Randy and Steve Kruse, owners of The Kruse Brothers, about where they believe homeowners should start when giving their home a fresh look.
Knowing when your home’s exterior needs a remodel is quite simple. Some telltale signs your house needs a makeover are if your siding has signs of wear or peeling paint or if your roof’s shingles are curling. Once you’ve decided to replace your home’s siding, Steve recommends a few options for deciding what to replace it with.
“Take a look at your neighborhood, and take a look at the houses left and right, and across the street from you to determine what colors fit in well,” he said. “If you're not quite sure, you could always go to a contractor supply house, someplace that's been in business for a while. There are some really nice lumber yards out there that have great displays and things, and LP SmartSide is often featured in those lumber yards.”
The Kruse Brothers swear by LP Building Solutions’ SmartSide® trim and siding line and have been installing this line on homes for years. Randy says that the substrate of SmartSide’s siding products is what really sets them apart from their competition. He even says that they are seeing SmartSide being used on the interior of homes and buildings.
“We're now seeing LP SmartSide being used in the interior, so people want more durable commercial restrooms and bathrooms,” he said. “They're using SmartSide in the bathrooms, where it can take the abuse. Down long hallways in hotels. We'll check into a hotel when we're traveling, and be like, ‘Did they really use LP SmartSide down here?’ And it's where maybe the laundry carts can bang up against the wall.”
