Since the home’s original asphalt roof was in decent shape, the crew determined that the new metal roof could be installed directly over it. That not only saved on tear off costs, it reduced waste and prevented the old roof from having to be dumped into the landfill. In the long run, installing metal over the original roof offers another layer of protection and can help the homeowners save even more energy. That’s important in the cold New England winters, where heavy snow and ice are common.
