In the roofing world, this February was all about trade shows and events. From the International Builders Show (IBS) to the National Women in Roofing (NWIR)’s annual conference. Two of our top articles come directly from the International Roofing Expo (IRE), which is arguably the biggest event for professionals in the roofing industry. Both by Lauren White, our editor who was on the ground at IRE, these articles explore how the roofing world comes together to move forward.
One article covers the 11th annual Roofing Alliance Construction Management Student Competition. This competition saw ten teams of students from across the U.S. “create a written proposal and give an oral presentation which tests roofing knowledge, project management, estimating, safety, quality control and presentation skills.” Lauren’s other article from IRE takes you behind the scenes to a Roofing Technology Think Tank (RT3) meeting at the event. During the lunch and learn, Jason Perkins, the owner and inventor of Tractile, presented about how his solar roof tiles are revolutionizing the Australian roofing market.
Our top two articles come from Trevor Underwood of DECRA Metal Roofing. In one of them, Trevor looks at the 2018 California Solar Mandate and what it means for your roof. The other article takes a deep dive into the different materials roofs can be made of and how they hold up to a variety of elements and factors.
